Overview

Seven Days of Slow Golden Triangle

Seven days is the plan for people who want to remember the trip rather than complete it. Each city gets two nights, so every sight has room, and none of the days is built around a long drive plus a long list.

The additional night in Agra is what changes the trip most. You can see the Taj Mahal at dawn, return for breakfast, and spend the afternoon at the quieter places: Itimad-ud-Daulah, Mehtab Bagh, and the old bazaars. Photographers in particular tend to love this version.

With a full day each in Delhi and Jaipur as well, the route moves steadily, and has room for an optional village visit or a stepwell on the road to Jaipur if the mood takes you.

Highlights
✦
The Taj Mahal at first light, with a second night in Agra
✦
A full day each in Delhi and Jaipur
✦
Itimad-ud-Daulah and Mehtab Bagh, away from the busiest hours
✦
An optional stepwell or village stop on the way to Jaipur
✦
The calmest pace of the five Golden Triangle plans
✦
Ideal for photographers and first-time visitors who want to feel the place

Day by Day

Your Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Delhi

Overnight: Delhi
+

Meet your driver at arrivals and settle into your hotel. A light evening is usually best after a long flight.

Day 2

A full day in Delhi

Overnight: Delhi
+

Begin in Old Delhi at Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk, then see the Red Fort. After lunch, take in Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub Minar and India Gate. The Red Fort closes on Mondays, and we adapt the day when needed.

Day 3

Delhi to Agra at a leisurely pace

Overnight: Agra
+

About 230 km (145 miles) in three and a half to four hours. The late afternoon is for Agra Fort, where you can watch the sun set over the Yamuna.

Day 4

The Taj Mahal at sunrise, and Agra's quieter side

Overnight: Agra
+

Go to the Taj Mahal at first light, when the crowds are thin and the marble glows. Return to the hotel for breakfast, then visit the carved tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, called the Baby Taj, and watch the sunset from Mehtab Bagh. We plan this day around the Friday closure.

Day 5

Agra to Jaipur, with time to stop

Overnight: Jaipur
+

The 240 km (150 miles) drive takes five to six hours. You stop at Fatehpur Sikri, and can choose to add the Abhaneri stepwell or a village stop. Arrive in Jaipur in the late afternoon.

Day 6

A full day in Jaipur

Overnight: Jaipur
+

Amber Fort by jeep or on foot, the City Palace and Jantar Mantar, with a photo stop at Hawa Mahal. In the afternoon, the bazaars, a workshop, or a sunset view are all open to you.

Day 7

Back to Delhi

Ends: Delhi
+

About 280 km (175 miles) and five to six hours of driving. We drop you at the airport or your hotel in the evening.

Questions

About This Journey

Cannot find your answer? Write to us and a specialist will reply personally.

Is seven days too long for the Golden Triangle?

+

Not for most people. It gives each city a full day and lets you see the Taj Mahal at sunrise. Many first-time visitors prefer it to shorter versions.

Why two nights in Agra?

+

Two nights lets you visit the Taj Mahal at dawn, return for breakfast, and spend the rest of the day on quieter sites without a long drive on the same day.

What time is sunrise at the Taj Mahal?

+

It changes through the year. Your guide confirms the opening time for your date and arranges the early start.

What can we add on the road to Jaipur?

+

Fatehpur Sikri is planned. Abhaneri’s stepwell and a village visit are optional.

Is this plan good for photographers?

+

Yes. The Taj at dawn, quiet lanes in Old Delhi and Jaipur’s streets give plenty of time and light.

Can I extend to Udaipur or a tiger safari?

+

Yes. We can add Udaipur from Jaipur, or Ranthambore or Varanasi, to a longer proposal.

Is seven days suitable for children?

+

Yes. The slower pace and the full-day rests in each city suit families well.

How do I ask for a proposal?

+

Use the form on this page. A specialist responds within 24 hours.
