Overview

The Full Rajasthan, at a Pace That Lets You Look

Ten days lets Rajasthan unfold properly. You arrive in Delhi, drive to Jaipur for two nights, cross through Pushkar to Jodhpur, go out to golden Jaisalmer for two nights at the edge of the Thar desert, and finish with two nights on the lakes of Udaipur.

The distances are long, so we pace them. No leg is over about six hours, and the longest, Jodhpur to Udaipur, is broken at Ranakpur, whose Jain temples open to visitors from about midday. You have one driver and a licensed guide in each city.

If you want to slow down further, add a night in any city. If you want to skip the desert, our 7 Days Rajasthan Tour is the shorter route.

Questions

About This Journey

Cannot find your answer? Write to us and a specialist will reply personally.

Is 10 days right for Rajasthan?

+

Yes, if you want to include Jaisalmer and the desert as well as the three great cities. Seven days covers Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur, and ten days lets you go out to Jaisalmer without hurrying.

Is Jaisalmer worth the extra distance?

+

Yes, if you want to see the Thar desert and a living fort. It is about 285 km (175 miles) from Jodhpur, and the journey back adds a day, so it is worth it only if you have at least ten days.

How long are the drives?

+

The longest are Jodhpur to Jaisalmer and back, about four and a half to five hours. The table on this page lists every leg with its distance.

What is the best time for the Rajasthan heritage tour?

+

October to March is the most comfortable. December and January mornings and desert nights are cold. April to June is very hot, and July to September is monsoon, green and quiet.

Is the camel ride included?

+

Yes, a short camel ride at the Sam dunes is included, subject to conditions. A desert camp overnight can be added on request.

Is this tour private?

+

Yes. You have your own luxury car, driver and licensed guides. Nothing is shared with other travellers.

Can I shorten this journey?

+

Yes. Our 7 Days Rajasthan Tour and 6 Days Jaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer Tour are shorter options. Tell us how many days you have.

How do I book?

+

Send your dates through the form on this page. A Travelage specialist will reply with a tailored proposal within 24 hours.

Is the driving between cities tiring?

+

Rajasthan is big, so some days involve four to six hours on the road. We keep the longest legs to one a day, build in stops at places worth stopping, and use a luxury air-conditioned car with a driver who knows the roads. The route table on this page shows every leg.

Do you recommend elephant rides at Amber Fort?

+

No. We do not include elephant rides. You go up to Amber Fort by jeep or on foot, and your guide takes you through the palace at a calm pace.
