Overview

Royal Rajasthan, Without the Rush

This is the route of the old Rajput kingdoms: the pink capital of Jaipur, the holy lake town of Pushkar, the sandstone fort of Jodhpur and the lake palaces of Udaipur. Eight days gives each place a proper stay: two nights in Jaipur, one in Pushkar, one in Jodhpur and three in Udaipur.

It starts in Jaipur, so you can fly straight in and skip Delhi, or we add a night in Delhi at the start. It is a slower sibling of our 7 Days Rajasthan Tour, with the extra days spent in Jaipur and Udaipur.

Our Driver & coach was super, but focus on detail and ensuring that the safety & wellbeing of individual travellers was met, really put the trip at an all time high!”

Questions

About This Journey

Cannot find your answer? Write to us and a specialist will reply personally.

What is the difference between this and the 7 Days Rajasthan Tour?

+

The 7 Days tour starts in Delhi and has two nights each in Jaipur and Udaipur. This 8 days tour starts in Jaipur, adds a third night in Udaipur and a day trip to Kumbhalgarh.

Is 8 days enough for Rajasthan?

+

Yes, for the four classic stops: Jaipur, Pushkar, Jodhpur and Udaipur. For Jaisalmer and the desert, see our 10 Days Rajasthan Heritage Tour.

Do I need to start in Delhi?

+

No. The journey starts in Jaipur, which has an airport and train links. We can add a night in Delhi or Agra before it.

How long are the drives?

+

The longest is about three and a half hours, between Pushkar and Jodhpur, and the others are between two and three hours. The table on this page lists every leg.

What is the best time to visit Rajasthan?

+

October to March is the most comfortable. April to June is very hot, and July to September is monsoon, green and quiet.

Is this tour private?

+

Yes. You have your own luxury car, driver and licensed guides. Nothing is shared with other travellers.

How do I book?

+

Send your dates through the form on this page. A Travelage specialist will reply with a tailored proposal within 24 hours.

Is the driving between cities tiring?

+

Rajasthan is big, so some days involve four to six hours on the road. We keep the longest legs to one a day, build in stops at places worth stopping, and use a luxury air-conditioned car with a driver who knows the roads. The route table on this page shows every leg.

Do you recommend elephant rides at Amber Fort?

+

No. We do not include elephant rides. You go up to Amber Fort by jeep or on foot, and your guide takes you through the palace at a calm pace.

Good to know

Timing around the sights

Ranakpur’s Jain temples are open to visitors from about midday, and temple rules may change. Your guide confirms timings on the day.

Best time to go

October to March is the most comfortable. April to June is very hot, so days start early. July to September is monsoon: green and quiet. Mornings and desert nights are cold from December to January.

Pushkar etiquette

Pushkar is a holy town. Meat, eggs and alcohol are not sold in the centre, and shoes come off at the ghats. Priests may offer a ceremony and ask for a donation, and you may decline politely.
