Overview

Rajasthan for Families, at Their Pace

Rajasthan suits children well: forts that look like castles, jeep rides up to a palace, camels, puppets, lakes and long afternoons by the pool. It can also be tiring, with long drives, hot afternoons and a lot of history. This journey is planned around the family, not the other way round.

Drives are kept to about five hours at most and broken with stops, we plan mornings for sightseeing and afternoons for rest, and we choose hotels with pools and family rooms. Your guide tells the stories in a way that children enjoy.

Tell us the ages of your children and any needs, and we will adjust the plan, the vehicle and the activities.

Wow… service at its best!

“We actually did 14 days which included a trip to Varanasi, then the Golden Triangle & out to Jaisalmer. Every step of the way we were accompanied by Bobby. Our Driver & coach was super, but focus on detail and ensuring that the safety & wellbeing of individual travellers was met, really put the trip at an all time high!”

Questions

About This Journey

Cannot find your answer? Write to us and a specialist will reply personally.

Is Rajasthan good for children?

+

Yes, if the trip is planned for them. Forts, jeep rides, puppet shows and lake boats suit children, but long drives and hot afternoons can tire them, so we keep drives short and build in rest.

What age is suitable for this tour?

+

Children of all ages travel with us. For babies and toddlers we plan more rest and shorter days, and for older children more activity. Tell us the ages and we will adjust.

How long are the drives with children?

+

The longest is about five and a half to six hours between Jaipur and Jodhpur, broken with two stops. The others are between two and six hours.

Are child seats available?

+

On request and subject to availability. Tell us your children’s ages when you write.

What is there for children to do?

+

Jeep rides up Amber Fort, a puppet show, the zip line at Mehrangarh for older children, a lake boat ride in Udaipur, and a pottery or cooking class.

Is the food suitable for children?

+

Yes. We choose restaurants with simple dishes and children’s menus, and we can ask for milder food. Tell us about allergies.

Is this tour private?

+

Yes. You have your own luxury car, driver and licensed guides. Nothing is shared with other travellers.

How do I book?

+

Send your dates through the form on this page. A Travelage specialist will reply with a tailored proposal within 24 hours.

Is the driving between cities tiring?

+

Rajasthan is big, so some days involve four to six hours on the road. We keep the longest legs to one a day, build in stops at places worth stopping, and use a luxury air-conditioned car with a driver who knows the roads. The route table on this page shows every leg.

Do you recommend elephant rides at Amber Fort?

+

No. We do not include elephant rides. You go up to Amber Fort by jeep or on foot, and your guide takes you through the palace at a calm pace.
