Mathura and Vrindavan sit on the road between Delhi and Agra, about 150 km (95 miles) from Delhi, and form one of India’s most important pilgrimage regions, the land of Lord Krishna’s birth and childhood. This journey puts the Braj temples and the Taj Mahal into one trip, so you travel the route the way many Indians do, with the pilgrimage towns on the way.
Temples here have their own rhythm, with midday closures, security checks and dress customs, so the day is timed around opening hours and your guide explains what you are seeing and how to behave. You may be moved by it, or simply fascinated. Either is welcome.
If you are travelling for devotion, tell us. We can slow the pace and add time for darshan and the evening aarti.
