Overview

The City of Dreams, Behind the Screen and in the Street

Mumbai is where Hindi cinema, usually called Bollywood, is made, and the city itself is the best set: a Victorian Gothic skyline, Art Deco seafront, fishing villages and some of the best street food in India. This journey puts the film world and the old city together.

Bollywood is a working industry, so studio and film set visits depend on shooting schedules and on what the studios allow. We confirm what is possible for your dates when we plan, and where a set visit is not possible we replace it with a studio tour, a dance class or a visit to a film-themed place.

If you have more days, add Ajanta and Ellora, about an hour by air from Mumbai.

Day 2

Bollywood day

Overnight: Mumbai
+

A morning at a film studio or set, where access allows, then a Bollywood dance class. In the afternoon, drive through Bandra and Juhu, with a stop at Bandra Bandstand, and finish with a street food walk. An evening film at a cinema can be arranged on request.

Day 3

Elephanta Island and departure
