Overview

Rajasthan's Three Great Cities in Five Days

If you have five days and want the cities that define Rajasthan, this is the route: the Pink City of Jaipur, the fort-crowned Blue City of Jodhpur, and the lake city of Udaipur.

It starts in Jaipur, so you can arrive from Delhi by road or on a short flight, and ends in Udaipur, which is well connected by air. Two nights in Jaipur, one in Jodhpur and one in Udaipur keep the pace brisk but not breathless, with the long Jodhpur to Udaipur day broken at Ranakpur.

It is deliberately focused. If you would like more time, our 7 day Rajasthan tour adds Delhi, Pushkar and a second night in Udaipur.

Questions

About This Journey

Cannot find your answer? Write to us and a specialist will reply personally.

Is five days enough for Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur?

+

It is enough to see the highlights of each city at a brisk pace, with two nights in Jaipur and one each in Jodhpur and Udaipur. If you prefer to go slower, our 7 day Rajasthan tour is more relaxed.

Why does the tour start in Jaipur?

+

Starting in Jaipur saves a day on the Delhi highway. You can reach Jaipur from Delhi by road in five to six hours or by a short flight, and we can arrange the road transfer if you prefer.

How long is the drive from Jaipur to Jodhpur?

+

About 340 km (210 miles), usually five and a half to six hours with breaks. Pushkar is a short optional detour.

Is this tour private?

+

Yes. You have your own luxury car, driver and licensed guides. Nothing is shared with other travellers.

Can I add Jaisalmer?

+

Yes. See our 6 day Jaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer tour, or ask us to extend this route.

How do I book?

+

Send your dates through the form on this page. A Travelage specialist will reply with a tailored proposal within 24 hours.

Is the driving between cities tiring?

+

Rajasthan is big, so some days involve four to six hours on the road. We keep the longest legs to one a day, build in stops at places worth stopping, and use a luxury air-conditioned car with a driver who knows the roads. The route table on this page shows every leg.

Do you recommend elephant rides at Amber Fort?

+

No. We do not include elephant rides. You go up to Amber Fort by jeep or on foot, and your guide takes you through the palace at a calm pace.

Is this suitable for children and older travellers?

+

Yes, with the right pace. Forts involve steps and walking, so tell us about young children or mobility needs and we will adjust the stops, timing and vehicle.

What should I wear?

+

Light cotton in the warmer months and layers from November to February, when mornings and desert nights are cold. Comfortable shoes for the forts, and shoulders and knees covered at temples.
